LOCAL 2139 NATIONAL COUNCIL OF FIELD LABOR LOCALS American Federation of Government Employees AFL-CIO This local represents employees of the U.S. Department of Labor in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana, as well as a few in Missouri. This organization is one of the oldest employee representative groups in the U.S. government, and we believe that we have one of the better track records in service to our members. Membership is open to non-management employees of the Department, without regard to race, creed, gender, political affiliation, or nationality. Retired employees may maintain their membership at a reduced rate, so that they may continue to stay in contact with their union brothers and sisters. Membership is by choice, and non-members will never be pressured to join. All members of the bargaining unit, whether a member or not, will be provided with representation, as required by Title 5 of the US Code. There are many benefits available only to members. If you have any questions regarding them, please contact your steward. Welcome to our website, and we hope that this communication tool will assist you.
